FreedomBooks

Connect your own ChatGPT account

Use OpenAI's official Sign in with ChatGPT to connect the account you already have to FreedomBooks. You check everything. Nothing posts on its own, and only what a task needs leaves your books.

Connecting your account

In FreedomBooks you press Continue with ChatGPT. Your browser opens OpenAI's own Sign in with ChatGPT page, with OpenAI's address in the address bar, and you log in there. When it sends you back, you're connected. You don't need a developer account or an API key.

Eligible requests count toward your ChatGPT plan. You can see that usage in your ChatGPT settings and put a limit on what FreedomBooks may use. If you'd rather pay OpenAI for usage directly, you can paste an OpenAI API key instead.

The connection is in the first release. The two features below are coming next; neither is included in that release.

Bank transaction matching (coming next)

After a week on the road, an HVAC tech has supply-house payments and customer deposits to sort out. ChatGPT will suggest which bill, invoice or category each bank line belongs to. Each suggestion will have a one-line reason, such as "The amount and supplier match this unpaid bill." You approve each one before anything goes into your books.

Bank feeds in the first release use rules you write, and you accept each line. AI matching and categorizing are the next step.

Expense tracking for jobs (coming next)

You've finished painting a customer's house, and there's a dozen receipts in the truck for paint, rollers and extra supplies. Those costs need to end up on the customer's invoice.

The planned workflow starts with that pile of receipts. Drop them in, and each becomes an expense tagged to the customer job and marked billable. You check the details, then choose "Add billable expenses" on that customer's invoice to add those expenses to it.

Job profit will show what that job billed against what it cost. You can see whether the work paid off, including the supplies you picked up along the way.

You decide what leaves your books

The plugin stays off for each company until you turn it on. Only the information needed for a task goes to OpenAI. You check the results before saving; nothing posts automatically.

It can also read a vendor bill you attach.

Disconnecting is one button. FreedomBooks asks OpenAI to end the sign-in and deletes what it had stored.

ChatGPT and Sign in with ChatGPT are OpenAI products. FreedomBooks is an independent open-source project. It isn't made by OpenAI, and OpenAI doesn't endorse it.
